Nirma University:

Nirma University was established in the year 2003 as a Statutory University under a Special Act passed by the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly. The University Grants Commission (UGC)

has recognized Nirma University under Section 2(f) of UGC Act and the university is also accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Nirma University is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and provisional member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). In addition to the Institute of Science, the constituent institutes of the University include Institute of Technology, Institute of Diploma Studies, Institute of Management, Institute of Pharmacy and Institute of Law. • The Human Ethical Committee, Animal Ethical Committee, Biosafety committee, and Research Advisory committee are in place for excellent monitoring of biological research.

Research Areas:

• Maintenance of memory T cells vis-à-vis vaccine development.

• Actinomycetes and soil microbial diversity, Biotransformation of combined industrial effluent microbes for bioremediation of hydrocarbons, Breach of Rhizobium legume specificity, Molecular basis of MPS phenotype, Halophiles, Plant anti-microbials.

• Genetic determinants of cancer and congenital disorders, Molecular marker of male infertility, Glucose transporters in diabetes, Probiotics, Neurobiology of Epilepsy and diabetes.

• Protein stability, folding, misfolding and aggregation.

The Institute has 8 core faculties with diverse expertise in biological sciences and all of them are active researchers, of which six are recognized Ph.D. guides. Ph. D admission is conducted as per UGC rule.

In vivo studies in animal models, plant models and insectarium.

Research Projects:

Completed 8 minor research projects funded by Nirma University and 2 minor research projects funded by GUJCOST.

Admission

Eligibility:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, BHMS, BAMS, Physiotherapy, and others with minimum 50% marks and the selection will be based on the merit of entrance test to be conducted by th the Institute on 12 May, 2013 at Ahmedabad. If large number of students are applying from other states, accordingly new centers may be created and announced.

Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management, Sivasagar, Assam has invited applications for appearing AET UG-2013 leading to admission to UG Programmes of Academic Year 2013-14.

Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management (ARGUCOM), Sivasagar, Assam 785640 will hold an All India Entrance Test for admission into Bachelor of Business Administration (Cooperation) - BBA(Coop.) for the session-2013-16. The examination will be held in different centres of the country. Details of procedure for downloading application and online submission of application will be available in the website within a fortnight. a) Seat Details: The BBA Programme has a total of 60 seats. The reservation of seats is as per Government of Assam reservation rules for admission into academic institutions. This will be done according to the following pattern ST(Plains): 10%, ST(Hills): 5%, SC: 7%, OBC/ MOBC: 27% and Unreserved Candidates: 51%. However University reserves the right to convert reserved quota seats into unreserved seats if candidates in the reserved categories do not come up for admission. Candidates applying against reserved categories must submit copies of proof of the same before admission.

b) Eligibility: Applicants must have passed 10+2 from any recognised board in India with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in either of the science, arts or commerce streams. A relaxation of 5% would be applicable for those applying under reserved categories. Those appearing/appeared in the qualifying examination can also apply but has to submit a copy of original mark sheet and pass certificate within reasonable time. Those who have passed 10+2 earlier than 2013 must enclose a gap certificate from competent authority to that effect stating the reason for the academic gap.

Condition of eligibility of any student may be relaxed only by a decision of E.C. Position of such candidate in the merit list will be from the bottom of the list prepared from candidates coming through AET UG-2013.

c) Selection process: The eligible candidates would have to appear in the All India written entrance examination AET UG-2013. Those qualifying the written test would be called for a Group Discussion and Personal Interview in the University campus. A final merit list would be prepared of the candidates clearing the written test after calculating the scores of all the three phases of AET UG-2013. The University may in due course also come up with a waiting list for admission depending upon the availability of seats. Calling for GD/PI would be through e-mail or sms. Therefore, each candidate must provide e-mail and mobile phone number at the time of filling the application on-line.
