Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvanathapuram has invited applications for admission to MA Applied Economics course of Academic Year 2013-14, scheduled to begin on July 17, 2013.
This four-semester programme is intended to equip students with knowledge of the analytical framework and empirical methodologies required for the study of contemporary issues in Economics, particularly with respect to development. The wide range of topics and a balance between theory and application are the hallmarks of the programme. MA students will be part of a research community comprising faculty, research students and visitors. With training in economic theory, quantitative methods, and exposure to a variety of data sets, graduates of the programme will be well prepared for careers in academia, government, the corporate sector and consulting.
Eligibility:
A bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern, with at least 50 percent marks. SC, ST & PH (with >40% disability) candidates are eligible irrespective of percentage of marks secured in the qualifying degree.
Those who are appearing for the final examination may also apply. Such candidates, if selected, shall be allowed to join the programme only if they have secured the minimum prescribed percentage of marks in their qualifying examination at the time registration to the programme. They should also submit the final mark-sheets of the qualifying examination at the time registration to the programme.
Fees
MA students have to pay a tuition fee of Rs 8000 per semester. All students would be provided hostel accommodation on a sharing basis and CDS hostel rent is Rs. 200 per person per month which includes charges for electricity and water.
Admission
Admission is based on an entrance test scheduled on May 26th 2013 from 10.30am to 12.30 pm at Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad and New Delhi.
Reservation
Statutory reservation for SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer) & PH (≥ 40% disability) candidates as per Government of India rule.

Online Registration for UID Card Status Verification By Name in Delhi | Pune | Mumbai

Online Registration for UID Card Status- unique identification (UID) Number is an Aadhaar Number which is a 12-digit number, which is unique across India. Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is issue the UID card for all Indian residents.

Candidates who were applied for UID card before 1st April 2012, but they have not get UID card. Candidates may have to reapply for UID card. UIDAI told the Delhi government that enrolled candidates cannot read their status due to technical reasons. Therefore candidates have to need re-enrol for the National Population Registry card.  For more information about UID card online registration candidates must see below:

Candidates can reenrol only three following conditions:
1. One if their status on UID website says ‘rejected’.
2. Two if status shows ‘not found’
3. Three if status shows 'cannot be processed due to technical reasons'.

Background and Objectives
The Division of Agricultural Physics, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi is organizing a short course on “Hyperspectral Remote Sensing for Agriculture” sponsored by Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, during Feb 18 to 27, 2013 for the teachers, scientists, engineers, research personnel of State Agricultural Universities, ICAR Institutes and Govt. / Semi Govt. Organizations.
Multispectral remote sensing data have been potentially explored in India for various applications. A major limitation of multispectral broadband remote sensing products is that they use average spectral information over broadband widths resulting in loss of critical information available in specific narrow bands. The narrow spectral channels that constitute hyperspectral sensors enable the detection of small spectral features that might otherwise be masked within the broader bands of multi-spectral scanner systems.
However, use of hyperspectral remote sensing is still in nascent stage. Keeping in view, recent rapid advances in imaging spectroscopy and opportunities for unique applications hitherto thought to be infeasible using broad-band remote sensing, a the short course under the aegis of DSTNRDMS initiative on hyperspectral remote sensing has been designed to develop trained human resource on hyperspectral remote sensing and its application in agriculture.
Curriculum
A series of lectures and practicals will cover principles and applications of Hyperspectral Remote Sensing. This includes a detailed theoretical knowledge on hyperspectral remote sensing (both in optical and thermal range), soil and vegetation spectrometry, imaging spectrometry, protocol of spectral signature collection both in field and laboratory conditions, Bidirectional Reflectance (BRDF), radiative transfer modelling, pre-processing of hyperspectral data and its classification algorithms, applications of hyperspectral remote sensing for retrieval of soil and plant parameters, plant stress monitoring etc. The theoretical knowledge will be supported by adequate hands on exposure on spectral signature collection and their analysis, hyperspectral image processing – pre processing, classification, spectral unmixing and spectral matching, estimation of soil and plant parameters through empirical and radiative transfer modelling.
Faculty
The majority of the faculty is in-house, drawn from the Division of Agricultural Physics and other Divisions of IARI, for delivering lectures and conducting practicals. Guest faculties comprising of experts from SAC, ADRIN-ISRO, IIRS, IITs, etc. will also deliver lectures on their specific area of specialization and present recent case studies on hyperspectral remote sensing applications.
Facilities
The Division has been working for more than four decades on Remote Sensing and its various applications in Agriculture through joint research programmes with ISRO and funding from ICAR, DST and Ministry of Environment & Forest. The Division has sophisticated RS & GIS laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art hardwares and softwares. The hyperspectral remote sensing laboratory of the division is well equipped with spectroradiometer, FTIR and many other facilities for hyperspectral remote sensing research.
Eligibility
Teachers, Scientists, Engineers, Research Personnel of State Agricultural Universities, ICAR Institutes or Govt. / Semi Govt. Institutes, policy makers and academicians in the field of Agriculture and Forestry are eligible for participation. Good working knowledge on multispectral remote sensing and digital image processing is mandatory. The total number of participants shall be limited to a maximum of 25.
Financial Support
Selected participants shall be provided shortest route train or bus fare as per eligibility and free lodging and boarding as per ICAR norms at IARI Guest House / Trainee’s Hostel. No registration fee will be charged for the course. The financial support for the short course is provided by the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.

    i) Students having fellowships/scholarships instituted by the University / national and international agencies under schemes approved / recognized by the University, through procedure laid down by the University, may be registered provisionally by the Departmental Research Committee and Board of Research Studies, and confirmed after completion of course work, by the respective Board of Research Studies.
    ii) Foreign students with their national or other fellowships recognized by the University or sponsored by their employers, may be given provisional admission, followed by confirmation through due process after a stipulated period of time.
    iii) The University / College teachers holding a permanent, temporary or ad-hoc positions and having completed two years of service as teacher in a Department / Constituent Colleges of the University of Delhi.
    iv) Candidates sponsored by their employers shall be considered only if they get study leave for a period of two years to fulfill residency requirements of the University of Delhi.
    v) Permanent teachers / employees who are in service in any other recognized University / college / Research Institute in India and have a minimum of three years teaching / research experience, will be considered if they get study leave for a period of two years to fulfill residency requirements of the University of Delhi.
    vi) Candidate holding M.Phil degree As per the letter from UGC (F. No. 1-1/2002(PS) Pt file-III) dated 28 Aug 2009 and University of Delhi No.CB.II/Recruitment/2009/2269 dated 25 Nov. 2009,candidate holding M.Phil degree from University of Delhi where in the admission has been through an entrance examination and Course work has been completed at M. Phil level, such candidates shall not be required to undertake entrance exam or course work when admitted to Ph.D program. In case a candidate has done M. Phil from other than University of Delhi, credit and exemption may be given for the course work done in the previous university. However, such a candidate will have to appear in the entrance test as applicable to fresh candidate directly joining Ph.D.
    Therefore, students having fellowship/scholarships, Foreign Students, University/College teachers having minimum 2 years experience in the University of Delhi, candidates sponsored by their employers, permanent teachers/employees having minimum 3 years of experience in recognized college/University/research institution and candidate holding M.Phil degree from University of Delhi, need not appear in the entrance exam and submit the synopsis along with the form as per above mentioned dates.
    8 i. In accordance with Ordinance VI-B (Ph. D) clause 4Bthe entrance test would be compulsory for students who are otherwise eligible for admission to the Ph.D. Programme and do not have any financial assistance, will be admitted through an entrance examination to
    be conducted by the respective departments or / and through an interview by the Departmental
    Research Committee. Students provisionally admitted to the Ph.D. Programme through an entrance examination or interview will be awarded University Grants Commission fellowships for programmes of doctoral research or any other fellowship that is launched by the national agencies. The number of fellowships under this category will be determined annually by the Department. Such candidates may apply for Ph.D. programme only once in a year at the beginning of the academic year.
    ii. Candidate holding M. Phil degree from other than University of Delhi will have to appear in the entrance test as applicable to fresh candidate directly joining Ph.D. However, credit and exemption may be given for the course work done in the previous university.

    Note : Admission to Ph.D. through entrance test is done only once in the month of July.

    In this round of registration only direct Ph.D. admission are done.
