Advertisement for Admission to Ph.D. Programme of the Department of Polymer Science and Technology
Interested candidates (including those working in various projects under departmental faculties but yet to register for PhD) having degree in Bachelor of Technology or Engineering (any stream) or Master of Science (any stream without NET/GATE/M.Phil) areinvited to appear for PhD eligibility test (PET) to be held on 27th December, Thursday, 2012 at 12 noon in the Department of Polymer Science and Technology, 92, A.P.C Road, Kolkata -700009.
Venue of the PET: 2nd year B.Tech class room of the department (in 2nd Floor of Applied Chemistry Building). The PET will be of 50 marks in MCQ format of 1 hr duration. The name of the successful candidates will be displayed on 28/12/2012 at 15 noon on the notice board near the administrative office of the department in ground floor.
Successful candidates will have to appear for an interview in the room of the Head of the Department at 12 noon on 31/12/2012. Candidates having degree in Master of Science with NET/GATE/M.Phil or candidates having degree in Master of Engineering or Technology need not sit for PET and they may directly appear for the interview on 31/12/2012. Successful candidates (in PET and/or interview) will be eligible to register for their Ph.D in the Department of Polymer Science and Technology.
Filled up application form (form may be downloaded from the University webpagehttp://caluniv.ac.in/Phd_Dlit/application_frame.htm ) along with Rupees 100/ paid through a challan (obtainable from sales counter of college street campus of the University) may be sent .to the Head of the Department, Department of Polymer Science and Technology, UCSTA , University of Calcutta, 92, A.P.C Road, Kolkata -700009 and it should reach the Department by 26/12/2012. No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates appearing at PET or interview. Research interest and area of works of individual faculties may be seen from departmental website (www.pstunical.org and www.caluniv.ac.in) . The reservation of SC/CT/OBC etc. will be applicable as per University rules.

Admission Notice
Ph.D. Entrance Test in Bengali 2012
Ph.D. Entrance Test in Bengali 2012, applications are invited for admission to the Dept. of Bengali Language & Literature, University of Calcutta (Asutosh Bhavan, 87/1 College Street, Kolkata-700073) for Ph.D. Course and subsequent research work leading to Ph.D. Degree in Bengali. Desiring Candidates may apply in the prescribed proforma (can be downloaded from the University website) by paying Rs. 100/- through a Challan, obtainable from the University Cash Counter by 21 Dec, ’12. Eligible candidates (having Master’s Degree in Bengali) will have to appear in an Entrance Test of 100 marks, to be held in the Dept. on 2nd Jan., 2013 comprising a written examination, followed by an interview. Those candidates who have already passed UGC NET/SET or M. Phil, examination need not appear in the written exam. and can directly appear in the interview. Details of the Entrance Test are given below.
i) The Written Examination of one and a half hour duration shall comprise short answer type 5 questions of 4 marks each, 15 Multiple Choice Type Questions of 2 marks each and 25 marks for an essay. There will be no negative markings.
Examination will be taken in the Dept. on 28.12.12 at 2.30 P.M.
ii) Questions would be based markly on the current M.A. syllabus of Bengali, C.U.
iii) Candidates getting 50% and above in the written examination will qualify for interview of 25 marks.
Date for the interview would be displayed in the Departmental Notice Board.
At present 25 Ph.D. students will be enrolled, if qualified, under the empanelled supervisors, including faculty members and the external supervisors. Reservations for SC/ST candidates shall be applicable as per rules. Successful candidates will have to complete a course work of one-semester duration.

a) Research Methodology
b) Computer Applications
c) Research/Literature Review
d) Current developments in Bengali Language & Literature
Duly filled forms will be submitted in the Department within 4 P.M 21st December 2012.
